Shankov Mikhail Yurievich
Soviet and Russian artist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2002).
Born in the family of the famous Russian writer Yuri Ivanovich Shankov (born 1937)
In 1983 he graduated from the Moscow Art School in Memory of the Revolution of 1905.
In 1991 - graduated from the Moscow Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov, portrait workshop of I. S. Glazunov.
He lived and worked in the USA: in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, participated in the creation of the Sheremetev Gallery "Russian Art" in Boston, taught a portrait class in the Sharon Art Center, Vermont, USA.
From 1993 to 2005 - worked at the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of Ilya Glazunov: teacher of composition in the workshop of historical painting; Associate Professor of the Department of Painting and Drawing; professor, head of the workshop of historical painting; professor, head of the drawing department; Professor, Head of the Department of Painting and Drawing.
Since 2012 - teacher and head of the composition department of the Moscow State Academic Art School in memory of 1905.
Since 2017 - Professor of the Department of Composition of the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture Ilya Glazunov
